Title: DEVICE FOR VARIABLY SETTING THE CONTROL TIMES OF GAS EXCHANGE VALVES OF AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device (1) for variably setting the control times of gas exchange valves of an internal combustion engine with: an output element (3) that drives a camshaft; an input element (2) that is driven by a crankshaft, both components being mounted in a manner that enables them to rotate relative to one another; an actuator (18) via which a phase position between both components can be variably set, and; two rotation angle limiting devices (24), each rotation angle limiting device (24) being able to assume an unlocked state, in which it does not limit the phase position, and to assume a locked state, in which it limits the phase position to an angular range or to a defined phase position, and each rotation angle limiting device (24) can be transferred back and forth between the locked and the unlocked state. The invention provides that both rotation angle limiting devices (24) are unlocked simultaneously, and the unlocked state is maintained during normal operation of the internal combustion engine. In the event the rotation angle limiting devices (24) are transferred from the locked to the unlocked state by subjecting them to the action of a pressure medium via at least one control line (19), the invention provides that this control line does not communicate with a device for supplying (32) pressure medium via which pressure medium can be fed to or drawn from the pressure chambers (12, 13).
