Verfahren zur Erkennung der Oberflächenbeschaffenheit von Objekten des Straßenverkehrs oder Personen, insbesondere von Fußgängern, Fahrzeugen, Hindernissen und dergleichen, bei dem von einem Fahrzeug Signale ausgesendet werden, die von einer Person oder einem Objekt reflektiert werden, und bei dem die reflektierten Signale in dem Fahrzeug empfangen und ausgewertet werden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die ausgesendeten Signale Sendepulse sind, deren Echopulse empfangen werden, und daß ausgehend von den Signalcharakteristika der Echopulse auf die Oberflächenbeschaffenheit und hieraus darauf geschlossen wird, ob vor dem Fahrzeug eine Person oder ein Objekt positioniert ist.

The invention relates to a method for recognizing the surface characteristics of traffic objects or individuals, especially of pedestrians, vehicles, obstacles and the like. According to said method, signals are emitted by a vehicle and are reflected by an individual or an object, and the reflected signals are received and evaluated by the vehicle. The invention is characterized in that the emitted signals are transmitter pulses the echo pulses of which are received and that based on the signal characteristics of the echo pulses conclusions are drawn regarding the surface characteristics. These characteristics are then used to decide whether an individual or an object is positioned in front of the vehicle.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour reconnaître la nature de la surface d'objets de la circulation routière ou de personnes, notamment de piétons, de véhicules, d'obstacles et similaires. Selon ce procédé, un véhicule émet des signaux qui sont réfléchis par une personne ou un objet, les signaux réfléchis étant reçus et évalués dans le véhicule. L'invention est caractérisée en ce que les signaux émis sont des impulsions d'émission dont les impulsions d'écho sont reçues et en ce que les caractéristiques des signaux des impulsions d'écho permettent d'identifier la nature de la surface desdits objets ou desdites personnes et, sur la base de cette identification, de déterminer si une personne ou un objet est positionné(e) devant le véhicule.
