A hyper-spectral imaging filter has serial stages along an optical signal path with angularly distributed birefringent retarders and polarizers forming interference filters. The retarders can include tunable birefringent elements such as liquid crystals controlled in unison, fixed retarders and/or combined tunable and fixed birefringences. Distinctly different periodic transmission spectra are provided by different filter stages, each having multiple retarders, in particular with some stages having broad bandpass peaks at wide spectral spacing and other stages have very narrow closely spaced peaks. The respective spectra include at least one tunably selectable band at which the transmission spectra of the filter stages coincide, whereby the salutary narrow bandpass and wide spectral spacing ranges of different stages apply together, resulting in a high finesse wavelength filter suitable for spectral imaging.

L'invention concerne un filtre d'imagerie hyperspectrale comprenant des étages en série le long d'un trajet de signal optique comportant des retardateurs biréfringents agencés angulairement et des polariseurs formant des filtres interférentiels. Ces retardateurs peuvent présenter des éléments biréfringents accordables tels que des cristaux liquides commandés de manière synchronisée, des retardateurs fixes et/ou des biréfringences accordables et fixes combinées. Des spectres de transmission périodique nettement différents sont fournis par différents étages de filtres, chaque étage présentant une pluralité de retardateurs, en particulier certains étages présentant des pics de bande passante larges, avec un large écart spectral, et d'autres étages présentant des pics très étroits, rapprochés. Les spectres respectifs comprennent au moins une bande pouvant être sélectionnée, accordable, à laquelle les spectres de transmission des étages de filtre coïncident. La bande passante étroite avantageuse et les larges gammes d'écart spectral des différents étages se combinent, ce qui permet d'obtenir un filtre de longueur d'onde présentant une grande finesse, adapté à l'imagerie spectrale.
