An antenna intended for portable radio devices, which comprises a radiating slot in the ground plane of the radio device. This slot (220) is a functional main part of the antenna. It is located so that a relatively narrow strip of the ground plane remains between it and an edge of the ground plane (210). At the end of this ground strip (212), beside the open end of the slot, there is connected an elongated auxiliary element (230), which elevates slightly from the ground plane and is then directed toward the closed end of the slot. The auxiliary element increases the electric length of the slot so that the basic resonance frequency of the slot occurs in the range of the lower operating band of the antenna intended as a dualband antenna. The slot (220) thus functions as a radiator in the lower operating band. The antenna is fed from a point (FP) that is advantageous with regard to the matching, near the closed end of the slot. In addition, the auxiliary element (230) is dimensioned so that when the antenna is fed by the frequencies of the upper operating band, oscillation of its own is excited in the auxiliary element, in which case it functions as a radiator in the upper operating band. By means of the invention, also the lower operating band of a dualband antenna can be implemented by a structure that takes a relatively small amount of space, the antenna can be located advantageously with regard to SAR, and the matching of the antenna does not require separate matching components.

La présente invention concerne une antenne à utiliser pour des dispositifs de radio portables, comprenant une fente radiante sur le plan de projection horizontal du dispositif de radio. Cette fente (220) est une pièce essentielle et fonctionnelle de l’antenne. Elle est située de manière à ce qu’une bande relativement étroite du plan de projection horizontal soit entre celle-ci et un bord du plan de projection horizontal (210). A l’extrémité de ladite bande horizontale (212), à côté de l’extrémité ouverte de la fente, est connecté un élément auxiliaire allongé (230), lequel s’élève légèrement du plan de projection horizontal et est alors dirigé vers l’extrémité fermée de la fente. L’élément auxiliaire augmente la longueur électrique de la fente de manière à ce que la fréquence de résonance de base de la fente se produise dans la gamme de bande opérationnelle la plus basse de l’antenne prévue comme une antenne à deux bandes. La fente (220) fonctionne alors comme un radiateur dans la bande opérationnelle la plus basse. L’antenne est alimentée depuis un point (FP) avantageux quant à l’adaptation, près de l’extrémité fermée de la fente. De plus, l’élément auxiliaire (230) est dimensionné de manière à ce que, l’antenne étant alimentée par les fréquences de la bande opérationnelle la plus haute, l’oscillation de celle-ci soit excitée dans l’élément auxiliaire, auquel cas elle agit comme un radiateur dans la bande opérationnelle la plus haute. Au moyen de l’invention, la bande opérationnelle la plus basse de l’antenne à deux bandes peut aussi être utilisée avec une structure occupant un espace relativement petit, l’antenne peut être placée très avantageusement par rapport au SAR, et l’adaptation de l’antenne ne requiert pas de composants d’adaptation séparés.
