A medium access control (MAC) entity first computes an achievable rate region based on a total transmit power limit and a channel gain of each of a plurality of WTRUs. Next, the MAC entity selects an order of DPC among the WTRUs. A rate set for use in transmitting to the WTRUs is then selected, said rate set being within the computed achievable rate region. Then, based on the selected DPC order and rate set, a DPC entity performs DPC on a plurality of data streams intended for the plurality of WTRUs. If nested lattice-based DPC is utilized, rate compatibility is achieved by selecting proper nesting ratios corresponding to a desired data rate set. Otherwise, if binary-code based DPC is utilized, rate compatibility is achieved via selecting appropriate message input sizes for input to point-to-point coding units prior to performing DPC.

Selon l'invention, une première entité de commande d'accès au support (medium access control / MAC) calcule une zone de débits possibles sur la base d'une limite de puissance d'émission, et un gain de canal de chacun des WTRU d'une pluralité. Ensuite, l'entité MAC sélectionne un ordre de DPC (dirty paper coding / codage 'papier sale') parmi les WTRU. Un ensemble de débits à utiliser lors de l'émission vers les WTRU, est alors sélectionné, l'ensemble de débits se trouvant dans la zone de débits possibles calculée. Ensuite, sur la base de l'ordre de DPC sélectionné et de l'ensemble de débits, une entité de DPC réalise un DPC sur une pluralité de trains de données destinés à la pluralité de WTRU. Si un DPC à réseau imbriqué est utilisé, la compatibilité avec le débit est obtenue par sélection de rapports d'imbrication propres correspondant à un ensemble de débits de données désiré. Sinon, si un DPC à code binaire est utilisé, la compatibilité avec le débit est obtenue par sélection de tailles d'entrée d'image appropriées pour l'entrée d'unités de codage point-à-point avec mise en oeuvre du DPC.
