A software module (SM) is traced from its origin as an abstract design created by a software vendor (23), through implementation of the abstract design into an executable SM by a software implementer (21), and up through delivery by the software vendor (23) of the executable SM to a downloading device (24) that will download the executable SM. Prior to downloading, a certification process is used to verify that the executable SM module fulfills the abstract design. Preferably, the certification process also includes an authentication process for authenticating the source of the abstract design.

Selon l'invention, un module logiciel (SM) est tracé à partir de son origine sous la forme d'une conception abstraite créée par un distributeur de logiciel (23) par implémentation de la conception abstraite dans un SM exécutable par un implémenteur de logiciel (21), et par distribution, par le distributeur de logiciel (23), du SM exécutable à un dispositif de téléchargement (24) amené à télécharger le SM exécutable. Avant le téléchargement, un procédé de certification est utilisé pour vérifier que le SM exécutable satisfait à la conception abstraite. De préférence, le procédé de certification comprend également un procédé d'authentification destiné à authentifier la source de la conception abstraite.
