Cumene and secondary butyl benzene are produced simultaneously in a distillation column reactor by feeding propylene, butylene and benzene to the reactor. Unreacted benzene is removed as overheads and cumene and secondary butyl benzene are removed as products. The catalysts used are acid cation exchange resins, zeolites, particularly beta zeolite.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de produire simultanément du cumène et du butyl benzène secondaire dans un réacteur à colonne de distillation, par le chargement de propylène, de butylène et de benzène dans le réacteur. Le benzène non réagi est extrait comme distillat de tête, et le cumène et le butyl benzène secondaire sont extraits comme produits. Les catalyseurs utilisés sont des résines échangeuses de cations acides, des zéolithes, en particulier la zéolithe bêta.
