Abstract
(EN)
N-halaminehydantoinyl epoxide compounds which can be used for the construction of coatings and materials which can be rendered biocidal by exposure to halogen solutions either before or after curing the coating or material are disclosed. The biocidal coatings and materials can then be used to inactivate pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and yeasts, as well as virus particles, which can cause infectious diseases, and those microorganisms which cause noxious odors and unpleasant coloring such as mildew. The coatings are compatible with a variety of substrates including, but not limited to, cellulose, chitin, chitosan, synthetic fibers, cement grout, latex caulk, acrylic films, polyurethanes, plastics and paints.

La présente invention se rapporte à des composés de N-halaminehydantoïnyle époxyde, qui peuvent servir à préparer des revêtements et des matériaux qui peuvent se doter de propriétés biocides lorsqu'ils sont exposés à des solutions d'halogènes, soit avant soit après leur durcissement. Lesdits revêtements et matériaux biocides peuvent ensuite servir à inactiver des micro-organismes pathogènes tels que des bactéries, des champignons et des levures, ainsi que des particules virales, qui peuvent provoquer des maladies infectieuses, de même que les micro-organismes responsables d'odeurs néfastes ou de colorations déplaisantes, comme la moisissure. Lesdits revêtements sont compatibles avec une pluralité de substrats, parmi lesquels l'on compte, de façon non limitative, la cellulose, la chitine, le chitosan, les fibres synthétiques, le lait de ciment, la pâte de latex, les films acryliques, les polyuréthannes, les plastiques et les peintures.
