An image processor, an image processing method, an image processing system, program, and a recording medium capable of obtaining an image of a wide dynamic range subjected to luminance compression. Assignment of the number of luminance gradation steps, of an output level signal for the level of an input luminance signal, to a main region and a second luminance region is differentiated from that to other ranges. For example, all the number of gradation steps is assigned by dividing to the luminance range of main region and the luminance range of the second luminance region but not assigned to other ranges, or the luminance range between the main region and the second luminance region is assigned the number of steps smaller than that for the luminance range of main region and the luminance range of the second luminance region. Furthermore, a boundary region of the luminance range of main region and the second luminance region may be set and assigned the number of steps smaller than that for the luminance range of main region and the second luminance region but larger than that for the region between them. The invention is applicable to an image processor.

La présente invention concerne un processeur d'images, un procédé et un système de traitement d'images, un programme et un support d'enregistrement permettant d'obtenir une image d'une large plage dynamique soumise à une compression de luminance. L'affectation du nombre de paliers de gradation de la luminance, d'un signal de niveau de sortie pour le niveau d'un signal de luminance d'entrée, à une zone principale et une zone secondaire est différente de celle pour d'autres gammes. Par exemple, la totalité du nombre de paliers de gradation est affectée par division aux gammes de luminance de la zone principale et de la zone secondaire, mais pas à d'autres gammes, ou la gamme de luminance entre la zone principale et la zone secondaire se voit affecter un nombre de paliers inférieur à celui pour les gammes de luminance des deux zones. En outre, une zone limite des gammes de luminance de la zone principale et de la zone secondaire peut être définie et se voir affecter un nombre de paliers inférieur à celui pour les gammes de luminance des deux zones, mais supérieur à celui pour la zone intermédiaire. Cette invention est applicable à un processeur d'images.

 本発明は、輝度圧縮が行われた広ダイナミックレンジの画像を得ることができる、画像処理装置および画像処理方法、画像処理システム、プログラム、並びに、記録媒体に関する。入力される輝度信号のレベルに対する出力レベル信号の輝度階調ステップ数の割り当てを、主要領域および第2の輝度領域とそれ以外の範囲とで異なるものとする。例えば、主要領域の輝度範囲と第2の輝度領域の輝度範囲に全ての階調ステップ数を分割して割り当て、それ以外の範囲に対しては割り当てないようにしたり、主要領域と第2の輝度領域の間の輝度範囲には、主要領域の輝度範囲と第2の輝度領域よりも少ないステップ数を割り当てる。更に、主要領域の輝度範囲と第2の輝度領域の境界部分の領域を設定して、主要領域の輝度範囲と第2の輝度領域よりも少なく、かつ、それらの間の領域よりも多いステップ数を割り当てるようにすることができる。本発明は、画像処理装置に適用できる。
