Abstract
(EN) The invention concerns novel antioxidants derived from Anacadiaceae species, more particularly from marula, Sclerocarya birrea. Said antioxidants are obtained by maceration and/or extraction of roots and/or bark and/or leaves and/or fruits (pericarp), and/or parts of fruits (epicarp, mesocarp, endocarp), and/or seeds and/or cakes and/or testa and/or any other part of one or more Anacadiaceae species, more particularly of marula, Sclerocarya birrea, using one (or more) hydrophilic, lipophilic or amphiphilic, polar and/or apolar solvents, alone or mixed and/or of one (or more) physical treatment(s). It is quite unexpected to observe that the resulting extracts have remarkable oxidative stability and exhibit excellent anti-free-radical properties. The invention also concerns extraction methods unexpectedly promoting the saturation rate in antioxidant active principles and significantly reducing the contact time required to obtain said rate. The novel antioxidants can be used alone or mixed with other existing antioxidants, known to a person skilled in the art.
(FR) Le demandeur a découvert des nouveaux antioxydants issus d'espèces d'Anacardiacées, plus particulièrement du marula, Sclerocarya birrea. Ces antioxydants sont obtenus par macération et/ou extraction des racines et/ou écorce et/ou feuilles et/ou fruits (péricarpe), et/ou parties des fruits (épicarpe, mésocarpe, endocarpe), et/ou graines et/ou tourteaux et/ou testa et/ou toute autre partie d'une ou plusieurs espèces d'Anacardiacées, plus particulièrement du marula, Sclerocarya birrea, à l'aide d'un (ou des) solvant(s) hydrophile(s), lipophile(s) ou amphiphile(s), polaires et/ou apolaires, seuls ou en mélange et/ou d'un (de) traitement(s) physique(s). II est tout à fait surprenant de constater que les extraits obtenus ont une stabilité oxydative remarquable et présentent d'excellentes propriétés anti-radicalaires. De la même manière, le demandeur a mis au point des procédés d'extraction favorisant incroyablement le taux de saturation en actifs antioxydants et réduisant également considérablement le temps de contact nécessaire à l'obtention de ce dit taux. Ces nouveaux antioxydants peuvent être utilisés seuls ou en mélange avec les antioxydants actuels, connus de l'homme de l'art.
