The invention relates to a method and device for the evaluation of the specific values of the polarisation state of a signal transmitted within a photonic transmission system for a number of frequencies of one or more pulses extracted from the optical signal with the translation of the frequency components of the polarisation state of one or more pulses to the time domain through the use of an optical Fourier transformer, as well as for sampling, quantification and subsequent analysis. The aforementioned analysis is used to calculate the variation in the polarisation state in relation to frequency, the associated PMD vector and the DGD present in the transmitted signal. Said information can be used as a control signal for a PMD compensating device in order to improve the communication quality in the system.

Un método y dispositivo capaz de evaluar los valores especificos del estado de polarización de la señal transmitida en un sistema de transmisión fotónico para un número de frecuencias de uno o algunos de los pulsos extraidos la señal óptica mediante la translación de las componentes frecuenciales del estado de polarización de uno o varios pulsos al dominio temporal mediante la utilización de un transformador de Fourier óptico, y su muestreo, cuantificación y análisis posterior. Del análisis es calculada la variación del estado de polarización frente a la frecuencia, su vector de PMD asociado y la DGD presente en la señal transmitida. Esta información puede ser utilizada como señal de control de un dispositivo compensador de PMD a fin de mejorar la calidad de la comunicación en el sistema.

Un procédé et un dispositif aptes à évaluer les valeurs spécifiques de l'état de polarisation du signal émis dans un système de transmission photonique pour un certain nombre de fréquences d'une ou de certaines impulsions extraites du signal optique au moyen de la traduction des composants de fréquence de l'état de polarisation d'une ou plusieurs impulsions vers le domaine temporel, en utilisant un transformateur de Fourier optique. Par la suite on échantillonne, quantifie et analyse le signal. On calcule à partir de l'analyse la variation de l'état de polarisation par rapport à la fréquence, à son vecteur de PMD associé et à la DGD présente dans le signal émis. Cette information peut être utilisée comme signal de commande d'un dispositif de compensation de PMD dans le but d'améliorer la qualité de la communication dans le système.
