Abstract

A bearing assembly (A1C) for installation over the journal (6,100) at the end of a railcar axle (4) has a backing ring (16,104) that seats against a fillet (10) at the end of the journal, an antifriction bearing (B1D) that fits around the journal, and an end cap (18,106) that extends over the end of the journal to retain the bearing and backing ring around the journal. In one form, the bearing (B) has two cones (32) that fit over the journal with an interference fit, with the inboard cone abutting the backing ring (16). A bore clip (22) holds the backing ring and inboard cone together in alignment before installation on the journal. In another form, a wear ring (108) is interposed between the backing ring (104) and the inner race (102) of the bearing (D), and the bore clip (22) extends between the backing ring and the wear ring. Once the backing ring and bearing are installed over the journal, the bore clip establishes a fluid barrier at the base of the fillet to prevent water from reaching and corrosion form developing at this critical area where flexure is greatest and also establishes fluid barriers with inside surfaces of the backing ring and inner race or wear ring.

Cette invention concerne un ensemble support (AC1) destiné à être installé sur un tourillon (6,100) à l’extrémité d’un essieu de wagon (4) ayant une bague de blocage (16, 104) qui se place contre un filet (10) à la fin du tourillon, un roulement anti-frottement (B1D) qui s’agence autour du tourillon et un embout (18, 106) qui s’étend sur l’extrémité du tourillon pour retenir le roulement et le retour de la bague autour du tourillon. Sous une forme, le coussinet (B) possède deux cônes (32) qui recouvrent le tourillon avec un ajustement serré, avec l’élément conique intérieur contigu à la bague de blocage (16). Un clip d’alésage (22) soutient la bague de blocage et l’élément conique interne ensemble et alignés avant l’installation sur le tourillon. Sous une autre forme, une bague d’usure (108) s’interpose entre la bague de blocage (104) et la bague interne (102) du coussinet (D), et le clip d’alésage (22) s’étend entre la bague de blocage et la bague d’usure. Une fois que la bague de blocage et le coussinet sont placés sur le tourillon, le clip d’alésage établit une barrière fluidique à la base du filet pour empêcher l’eau de passer et de développer une corrosion au niveau de cette zone critique, où la flexion est la plus importante et établit également des barrières fluidiques avec les surfaces internes de la bague de blocage et la bague interne ou la bague d’usure.
