Abstract

A catalyst system and a method for reducing nitrogen oxides in an exhaust gas by reduction with a hydrocarbon or oxygen-containing organic compound reducing agent are provided. The catalyst system contains a silver catalyst and a modifier catalyst, where the modifier catalyst contains a modifier oxide, where the modifier oxide is selected from the group consisting of iron oxide, cerium oxide, copper oxide, manganese oxide, chromium oxide, a lanthanide oxide, an actinide oxide, molybdenum oxide, tin oxide, indium oxide, rhenium oxide, tantalum oxide, osmium oxide, barium oxide, calcium oxide, strontium oxide, potassium oxide, vanadium oxide, nickel oxide, tungsten oxide, and mixtures thereof. The modifier oxide is supported on an inorganic oxide support or supports, where at least one of the inorganic oxide supports is an acidic support. The catalyst system of the silver catalyst and the modifier catalyst provides higher NOx conversion than either the silver catalyst or the modifier catalyst alone.

L'invention concerne un système catalyseur et un procédé de réduction d'oxydes d'azote dans un gaz d'échappement au moyen d'un agent de réduction, par exemple un hydrocarbure ou un composé organique contenant de l'oxygène. Le système catalyseur contient un catalyseur d'argent et un catalyseur de modification, le catalyseur de modification contenant un oxyde de modification sélectionné dans le groupe formé d'oxyde de fer, d'oxyde de cérium, d'oxyde de cuivre, d'oxyde de manganèse, d'oxyde de chrome, d'oxyde de lanthanide, d'oxyde d'actinide, d'oxyde de molybdène, d'oxyde d'étain, d'oxyde d'indium, d'oxyde de rhénium, d'oxyde de tantale, d'oxyde d'osmium, d'oxyde de baryum, d'oxyde de calcium, d'oxyde de strontium, d'oxyde de potassium, d'oxyde de vanadium, d'oxyde de nickel, d'oxyde de tungstène, et de mélanges de ceux-ci. L'oxyde de modification est supporté par un support ou des supports d'oxyde inorganiques, au moins un des supports d'oxyde inorganiques étant un support acide. Le système catalyseur formé du catalyseur d'argent et du catalyseur de modification permet d'obtenir une conversion NOx supérieure par rapport au catalyseur d'argent ou au catalyseur de modification seuls.
