Alkylation processes are described herein. The alkylation process generally includes contacting an input stream including benzene with an alkylation catalyst and an alkylating agent to form an alkylation output stream including ethylbenzene. The alkylation process further includes contacting at least a portion of the alkylation output stream with a transalkylation catalyst and a benzene source to form a transalkylation output stream, wherein the benzene source is selected to minimize the amount of alkylation catalyst poisons contacting the alkylation catalyst.

La présente invention a trait à des procédés d'alkylation. D'une manière générale, le procédé d'alkylation comprend la mise en contact d'un flux d'entrée comportant du benzène avec un catalyseur d'alkylation et d'un agent d'alkylation pour former un flux de sortie d'alkylation comportant de l'éthylbenzène. Le procédé d'alkylation comprend également la mise en contact d'au moins une portion du flux de sortie d'alkylation avec un catalyseur de transalkylation et d'une source de benzène pour former un flux de sortie de transalkylation, ladite source de benzène étant choisie pour minimiser la quantité de poisons de catalyseur d'alkylation en contact avec le catalyseur d'alkylation.
