A method and an energy absorption apparatus for use with a vehicle seat having a seat recline mechanism. The energy absorption apparatus includes a bracket coupled to the seat recline mechanism. A member is coupled to the bracket, with the member configured to elongate in response to a force on the vehicle seat. The kinetic energy of the force is absorbed by the member as strain energy when the member elongates.

L’invention a pour objet un procédé et un appareil d’absorption d’énergie pour un siège de véhicule à mécanisme d’inclinaison. L’appareil d’absorption d’énergie comprend un support couplé au mécanisme d’inclinaison du siège. Un élément est couplé au support et conçu pour être étiré selon une force appliquée au siège. L’énergie cinétique de la force est absorbée par l’élément sous forme d’énergie de déformation lorsqu’il est étiré.
