The invention relates to link establishment in a wireless communication terminal. In order to obtain flexible and low power connections between a wireless terminal belonging to a short-range wireless network and an external wireless communication device not belonging to that network, a protection frame is sent either from the wireless communication terminal or from the external wireless communication device. The protection frame includes duration information used for virtual carrier-sensing in the short-range wireless network. In response to the protection frame, data is transferred between the wireless communication terminal and the external wireless communication device during a time period indicated by the duration information.

L'invention concerne l'établissement de liaison dans un terminal de communication sans fil. Afin d'obtenir des connexions souples et de faible puissance entre un terminal sans fil appartenant à un réseau sans fil de faible portée et un dispositif de communication sans fil externe n'appartenant pas à ce réseau, une trame de protection est envoyée soit à partir du terminal de communication sans fil, soit à partir du dispositif de communication sans fil externe. La trame de protection comprend des informations de durée utilisées pour le détection de porteuse virtuelle dans la réseau sans fil de courte portée. En réponse à la trame de protection, des données sont transférées entre le terminal de communication sans fil et le dispositif de communication sans fil externe pendant une durée indiquée par les informations de durée.
