Specifically disclosed is an optical multilayer body comprising a light-transmitting base and an anti-glare layer formed on the light-transmitting base, which is obtained by preparing the light-transmitting base and then forming the anti-glare layer having recesses and projections on the light-transmitting base. When the average distance between the recesses and projections of the anti-glare layer is represented by Sm, the average angle of inclination of the recesses and projections is represented by &thetas;a, and the average roughness of the recesses and projections is represented by Rz, the recesses and projections of the anti-glare layer are so formed that Sm is not less than 100 μm but not more than 600 μm, &thetas;a is not less than 0.1 degree but not more than 1.2 degrees, and Rz is more than 0.2 μm but not more than 1 μm.
