(EN)This invention relates to an aggregation sensor useful for the detection and analysis of aggregants in a sample, and methods, articles and compositions relating to such a sensor. The sensor comprises first and second optically active units, where energy may be transferred from an excited state of the first optically active unit to the second optically active unit. The second optically active unit is present in a lesser amount, but its relative concentration is increased upon aggregation, increasing its absorption of energy from the first optically active units. This increase in energy transfer can be detected in variety of formats to produce an aggregation sensing system for various aggregants, including for quantitation. Other variations of the inventions are described further herein.
(FR)L'invention concerne un capteur d'agrégation utilisé pour détecter et analyser des agrégats dans un échantillon, et des procédés, des articles et des compositions relatifs ce capteur. Ledit capteur comprend une première et une seconde unité optiquement actives, dans lesquelles l'énergie peut être transférée à partir d'un état excité de la première unité optiquement active vers la seconde unité optiquement active. Ladite seconde unité optiquement active est présente en quantité moindre mais sa concentration relative augmente lors de la formation d'agrégats, ce qui permet d'augmenter l'absorption d'énergie provenant de la première unité optiquement active. On peut détecter cette augmentation du transfert d'énergie sous des formes variées afin de produire un système de détection d'agrégats, notamment, pour quantification. L'invention concerne également d'autres variations.
