(EN)A process for decomposing nitrogen oxides includes the following steps: providing a catalyst, passing a gaseous nitrogen oxide over the catalyst and exposing the catalyst to microwave energy. The gaseous nitrogen oxide is broken down into nitrogen and oxygen molecules.
