(EN)An optical low pass filter or blur filter, and method of making the filters, using an article having a birefringent surface for refracting incoming light when used with an image sensor. The birefringent surface of the article, such as a film, is structured or tilted such that, when the blur filter is placed within an optical path between a lens and the image sensor, the birefringent surface causes refraction of a light signal in the optical path into multiple light signals each being incident upon different sub-pixels within the pixels in the image sensor to prevent or reduce artifacts, such as undesirable color moiré effects, in the resulting digital image.
(FR)Filtre optique passe bas ou filtre flou et méthode pour réaliser le filtre en utilisant un article possédant une surface biréfringente pour réfracter de la lumière arrivante lorsque utilisé avec un capteur d’image. La surface biréfringente de l’article, tel un film, est structurée ou basculée de manière telle que le filtre flou est placé dans le chemin optique entre une lentille et le capteur d’image, la surface biréfringente causant la réfraction d’un signal de lumière dans le chemin optique en de multiples signaux de lumière chacun incident sur différents sous-pixels dans les pixels du capteur d’image pour éviter ou réduire les artefacts tels des effets indésirables de moirage de couleur dans l’image numérique résultante.
