Abstract:
(EN) A gas pad assembly (100) is provided. The gas pad assembly includes a plurality of articulated gas pads (106). Each gas pad includes a mounting stem having a first and a second end and a gas passage that runs the length of the mounting stem and able to receive gas through the first end, a flexible joint adapted to mate with the second end of the mounting stem with a hole that aligns with the gas passage of the mounting stem, and a support pad that mates with the flexible joint and having a hole that aligns with the hole in the flexible joint. The flexible joint adheres the mounting stem to the support pad and allows the support pad to tilt and move axially with respect to a surface adjacent to a face of the support pad. The plurality of articulated gas pads are positioned about the exterior of a device to float the device in a near frictionless environment when the plurality of gas pads is pressurized with the gas.
(FR) L'invention porte sur un assemblage de coussinets à gaz articulés. Chacun des coussinets comprend: une tige support présentant une première et une deuxième extrémité et un passage longitudinal traversant recevant le gaz par sa première extrémité; un joint souple s'adaptant à la deuxième extrémité de la tige support et percé d'un trou aligné sur le passage traversant la tige; et un coussinet s'adaptant au joint souple et percé d'un trou aligné sur le trou du joint souple. Le joint souple fait adhérer la tige support au coussinet tout en lui permettant de pivoter et de se déplacer axialement par rapport à une surface voisine de la face du coussinet. Les différents coussinets sont disposés autour d'un dispositif de manière à lui permettre de flotter dans un environnement, quasi sans frottement, lorsque la totalité des coussinets sont alimentés en gaz sous pression.
