Abstract
(EN) The invention relates to systems and methods for treating oxygen­rich NOR-containing exhaust. The systems and methods comprise using first (12) and second (14) NOR reducing catalysts. According to one aspect of the invention, the first catalyst (12) reduces NOR in oxygen-rich exhaust primarily through reaction with a first reductant species and the second catalyst (14) reduces NOR in oxygen-rich exhaust primarily through reaction with a second reductant species. Collectively, the two catalysts are substantially more effective than either of the catalysts individually in reducing the concentration of NOR in the exhaust. According to another aspect of the invention, an exhaust system is configured to inject a first reductant species primarily at a first location upstream of the first NOR reducing catalyst (12), and is configured to inject a second reductant species primarily at a second location downstream of the first NOR reducing catalyst (12), but upstream of the second NOR reducing catalyst (14).
(FR) La présente invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés permettant de traiter des gaz d'échappement contenant du NOx riche en oxygène. Les systèmes et les procédés de cette invention comprennent l'utilisation d'un premier (12) et d'un second (14) catalyseur de réduction de NOx. Selon un aspect de cette invention, le premier catalyseur (12) réduit la teneur en NOx d'un gaz d'échappement riche en oxygène principalement au moyen d'une réaction faisant intervenir une première espèce d'agent réducteur tandis que le second catalyseur (14) réduit la teneur en NOx d'un gaz d'échappement riche en oxygène principalement au moyen d'une réaction faisant intervenir une seconde espèce d'agent réducteur. Ensemble, les deux catalyseurs sont substantiellement plus efficaces que chacun des catalyseurs pris individuellement pour réduire la concentration de NOx dans le gaz d'échappement. Selon un autre aspect de cette invention, un système d'échappement est conçu pour injecter une première espèce d'agent réducteur principalement au niveau d'un premier endroit en amont du premier catalyseur de réduction de NOx (12) et est conçu pour injecter une seconde espèce d'agent réducteur principalement au niveau d'un second endroit en aval du premier catalyseur de réduction de NOx (12) mais en amont du second catalyseur de réduction de NOx (14).
