Abstract
(EN) A method for purifying heavy metal impurities (such as antimony, arsenic, iron, cadmium, and lead) from 28 to 38 weight percent aqueous crude sodium sulfate solution (108) is achieved by adding ferric sulfate (114) to the aqueous crude sodium sulfate solution to form a suspension, progressively neutralizing (112) the suspension from a pH of less than 3.5 up to at least 6, and separating the ferric-sulfate-nucleated precipitate from the suspension. An oxidizing agent such as peroxide is optionally added to the suspension to augment adsorption of the heavy metals.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de purifier des impuretés de métaux lourds (telles que l'antimoine, l'arsenic, le fer, le cadmium et le plomb) à partir de 28 à 38 % en poids d'une solution brute aqueuse de sulfate de sodium. A cet effet, on ajoute du sulfate ferrique à la solution brute aqueuse de sulfate de sodium afin de former une suspension, on neutralise progressivement la suspension d'un pH inférieur à 3,5 à au moins 6 et on sépare de la suspension le précipité à noyau de sulfate ferrique. Un agent oxydant, tel que le peroxyde, est éventuellement ajouté à la suspension afin d'augmenter l'adsorption des métaux lourds.
