A plastics extruder for re-processing solid plastics material has an auger with a blade (61) located inside a closely fitting housing (79). Rotation of the blade advances plastics material from an inlet portion (57) to an outlet end (59) of the auger. The auger blade includes a helical screw (63) with a compression portion at which the volume between adjacent turns of the helical screw successively reduces in a direction toward the outlet end of the auger. The solid plastics material being advanced through the compression portion is heated and converted to a viscous liquid which is extruded through an extrusion nozzle connected to the outlet end of the auger. The volume reduction along the compression portion may be achieved by decreasing the outer diameter of the helical screw and maintaining the close fit of the housing (79), and/or by increasing the diameter of the auger shaft (65), and/or by reducing the pitch of the helical screw. A laminator using a plurality of the extruders produces a multilayered extrusion.

Cette invention concerne une extrudeuse utilisée pour le retraitement des matières plastique comprenant une vis sans fin avec lame (61) logée sous un carter (79) qui en épouse étroitement la forme et ajustement précis du carter. Sous l'effet de la rotation de la lame, les matières plastiques avancent de la partie entrée 57 à la partie sortie (59) de la vis sans fin. La lame comprend une vis hélicoïdale (63) avec une partie compression dans laquelle le volume compris entre des filets adjacents de la vis se réduit progressivement en direction de la sortie de la vis sans fin. Le matériau plastique solide qui progresse au travers de la partie compression est chauffé et transformé en un liquide visqueux qui est extrudé par une buse d'extrusion reliée à l'extrémité sortie de la vis sans fin. La diminution de volume intervenue le long de la partie compression peut être obtenue de plusieurs manières telles que diminution du diamètre extérieur de la vis hélicoïdale et utilisation d'un carter (79) épousant étroitement la forme de la vis et/ou augmentation du diamètre de l'arbre de vis sans fin (65) et/ou réduction du pas de la vis hélicoïdale. Une calandre à laminer utilisant une pluralité d'extrudeuses permet de produire une pièce extrudée multicouche. Sont également décrits plusieurs procédés connexes de retraitement du plastique.
