Abstract

A metal shingle system which is resistant to leakage, even under severe weather conditions. The key attribute of the new system to the design of the side edge of the shingle such that water that seeps between adjacent shingles cannot be blown upward. Briefly, the top edge is overturned and the bottom edge is underturned such that they can be interconnected as is well known in the art. One side edge is folded to form a gutter area into which water that seeps between laterally adjacent shingles is collected and drained onto the lower row of shingles. The top of the gutter area is blocked by the overturned top edge, which extends into the gutter region. Also disclosed is an improved tool for cutting the shingles, such as is needed around obstructions and at the end of the roofline.

L'invention concerne un système de bardeaux métalliques qui résiste aux fuites, même dans des conditions climatiques mauvaises. L'attribut essentiel de ce nouveau système au niveau de la conception du bord latéral du bardeau réside dans le fait que l'eau qui suinte entre les bardeaux contigus ne peut pas remontée sous l'effet du souffle. En résumé, le bord supérieur est retourné vers le haut et le bord inférieur vers le bas, ce qui permet de les raccorder selon la technique bien connue. Un côté latéral est plié de façon à former une gouttière qui permet de recueillir l'eau qui suinte entre les bardeaux latéralement contigus et de la drainer vers la rangée inférieure des bardeaux. Le haut de la zone goulotte est bloqué par le bord supérieur retourné vers le haut, qui se prolonge dans la zone gouttière. L'invention concerne enfin un outil amélioré pour découper les bardeaux, selon les besoins autour des obstructions et à l'extrémité de la ligne de la toiture.
