(EN)A MIMO communication system is adapted to encode multiple data streams at the same adaptable rate. Accordingly, the set of all possible modulation/rate combinations to all modulations with common rates is decreased thus resulting in the reduction of the number of possible packet formats carrying the data streams. Rate prediction is made more error-resilient, in part, due to the averaging over all information rates. Furthermore, the signaling overhead of the packets is reduced. Therefore, the tradeoff between the desired transmission rate granularity on the one hand, and robustness /signaling overhead on the other hand, is controlled by adjusting the coding rate.
(FR)L'invention concerne un système de communication MIMO (entrées multiples-sorties multiples) conçu pour coder des flux de données multiples à un même taux adaptable. Ce système entraîne ainsi une réduction de l'ensemble des combinaisons modulation/taux possibles pour toutes les modulations présentant des taux de modulation commun, ce qui réduit le nombre possible de formats de paquets transportant les flux de données. Ce système permet de rendre la prédiction du taux moins sensible aux erreurs, en raison notamment du moyennage de toutes les entropies, et de réduire en outre les surcharges de signalisation des paquets. L'équilibre entre la granularité du débit de transmission souhaitée d'une part, et la robustesse/surcharge de la signalisation d'autre part est régulé par modification du taux de codage
