(EN)A self-leveling laser alignment tool (10) and method thereof which provides a laser beam (24) in a substantially truly level or plumb orientation are disclosed. Magnetic attraction (40, 42, 44) is used to compensate for leveling errors of an approximately or partially leveled pendulum platform (16) that is suspended from a flexible support member (30) having a predetermined material stiffness. The material stiffness of the suspension member (30) is compensated by using magnets (40, 42) which pulls the pendulum platform (16) into an orientation that is substantially truly level and plumb.
