(EN)A positive electrode active substance for lithium cell exhibiting high temperature resistance and cell characteristics. The positive electrode active substance for lithium cell comprises manganese dioxide having a crystal structure provided with a peak having a peak intensity ratio of 0.05 or above for the peak of 2&thetas;=37.3°±0.5° at positions of 2&thetas;=18.2°±0.5°, 19.5°±0.5°, 28.6°±0.5°, 56.6°±0.5°, 59.1°±0.5°, 65.1°±0.5°, or, in addition, at a position of 22.0°±1.0° in an X-ray diffraction pattern measured by a powder X-ray diffraction device (XRD) using a CuK&agr; 1 ray.
