(EN)A method for determining quantities characteristic of a moving object, in particular the outline of a railway train, characterised by: scanning with at least one laser telemeter, the laser signal of which is amplitude modulated, by rotating it about an axis parallel to the direction of movement of said object, measuring the distances between said telemeter and the corresponding point struck by the laser beam, after establishing a relationship between the scanning angle assumed by the laser beam at the moment of measurement and the value of the corresponding distance measured, then processing the determined data, to hence determine points on the outline of said object.
(FR)L'invention porte sur un procédé permettant de déterminer les caractéristiques dimensionnelles d'un objet mobile et en particulier les contours d'un train. Ledit procédé consiste: à balayer l'objet mobile à l'aide d'un télémètre laser dont le signal est modulé en amplitude, en le faisant tourner autour d'un axe parallèle à la direction de mouvement de l'objet; à mesurer de la distance entre ledit télémètre et le point correspondant frappé par le rayon laser après avoir établit la relation entre l'angle de balayage du rayon laser au moment de la mesure, et la distance mesurée correspondante; puis à traiter les données calculées pour déterminer des points du contour dudit objet.
