(EN)A method for treating cancer in a patient is provided comprising administering 8-chloro-adenosine in a daily dose ranging from 500 to 2500 mg/m2, wherein the daily dose is administered at least once and up to five days per week for at least two weeks in a two month period. The method may further comprise administering a second therapeutic agent, such as another anti-cancer agent, GCSF, or erythropoietin. In addition, diagnostic and prognostic methods are provided for determining if a cancer patient is likely to respond to 8-Cl-Ado, which involve determining phosphatase, adenosine kinase, adenosine deaminase, or mRNA levels in cancer cells from the patient.
(FR)L'invention concerne une méthode de traitement du cancer chez un patient consistant à administrer une dose quotidienne de 8-chloro-adénosine de 500 à 2500 mg/m2, ladite dose quotidienne étant administrée au moins une fois et jusqu'à cinq jours par semaine pendant au moins deux semaines au cours d'une période de deux mois. Ladite méthode consiste également à administrer un second agent thérapeutique, par exemple un autre agent anti-cancéreux, le GCSF, ou l'érythropoïétine. L'invention concerne, de plus, des méthodes de diagnostic et de pronostic permettant de déterminer si un patient atteint de cancer est susceptible de répondre à la 8-Cl-Ado, consistant à déterminer les niveaux de phosphatase, d'adénosine kinase, d'adénosine déaminase, ou d'ARNm dans les cellules cancéreuses du patient.
