The polarization-manipulating optical structure (204, 304, 306, 404, 406, 408) can be one or more polarization-manipulating optical components (204, 304, 306, 404, 406, 408) such as a retarder, an optical rotator formed of a material having optical activity, an optical rotator formed of a material exhibiting the Faraday Effect, or some combination of these components.
