Abstract:
Cladophora-form spherical tiny particles having a nanocarbon material radially grown from a nucleus of diamond. Diamond catalyst tiny particles (2) having a transition metal catalyst supported on the surface of oxidized diamond tiny particles with an oxidized surface are suspended and agitated in a vapor phase of hydrocarbon and also heated to a given temperature so as to induce a catalytic reaction for synthesis of nanocarbon material, thereby attaining growth of a nanocarbon material on the surface of tiny particles. Cladophora-form carbon is produced by attaining radial growth of nanofibers (32) with a diameter of nanosize from a nucleus of diamond catalyst tiny particles (31). When the supported transition metal is Ni or Co, the obtained nanocarbon material is a carbon nanotube. When the supported transition metal is Pd, the obtained nanocarbon material is a coin laminated type carbon nanographite.
