(EN)A method for suppressing post-harvest biological infestation in fruits, such as bananas, plantains, and pineapples, is provided. The method involves treating the cut or separated areas of the fruit by applying a composition containing: (a) a synthetic film-forming thermoplastic polymer in an amount effective to suppress biological infestation and disease of the fruit when applied; and (b) an oil or aqueous emulsion carrier. Application of these coating compositions may be performed by dipping, extrusion, spraying, or brushing at ambient or elevated temperature, depending on the nature of the coating. The resulting coatings reduce the exposure of the fruit to fungal spores, oxygen, moisture and microorganisms, diminish the occurrence of fungal growth, limit infection, and inhibit microbial growth.
(FR)L'invention concerne un procédé de lutte contre les infestations biologiques après récolte des fruits tels que les bananes, les bananes plantains et les ananas. Ce procédé consiste à traiter la coupe ou les parties séparées du fruit par application d'une composition qui renferme: (a) un polymère thermoplastique filmogène synthétique dans une quantité efficace pour éradiquer l'infestation biologique et la maladie du fruit après application; et (b) un support d'émulsion huileuse ou aqueuse. L'application de ces compositions d'enrobage peut se faire par immersion, extrusion, vaporisation, ou brossage, à température ambiante ou élevée, selon la nature de l'enrobage. Les enrobages obtenus réduisent l'exposition des fruits aux spores fongiques, à l'oxygène, à l'humidité ainsi qu'aux micro-organismes, atténuent la formation de moisissure, limitent l'infection, et empêchent la prolifération microbienne.
