CLAIMS

1. A method comprising:

accepting input defining a mote-appropriate network task;

searchng at least one federated dex in response to said accepted input; and presenting an indication of motes appropriate to the mote-appropriate network task.

searchng at least one of a first-administered mote-addressed content mdex, a first- admimstered multi-mote content index, or a first-admimstered aggregation of content indexes.

8. The method of Claim 6, wherem said searchng a federated mdex havmg at least one first-admimstered content mdex and at least one second-administered content index further comprises:

searchng at least one of a second-admimstered mote-addressed. content mdex, a second- admimstered multi-mote content index, or a second-administered aggregation of content indexes.

9. The method of Claim 1, wherein said searchng at least one federated mdex further comprises:

searchng a time series of at least two federated mdexes.

10. The method of Claim 1 , wherein said searchng at least one federated mdex further comprises:

searchng at least one multi-mote content index of the at least one federated mdex.

11. The method of Claim 10, wherein said searchng at least one multi-mote content - mdex of the. at leastonefederatedhdex.-αιrthercomprises:

searchng a time series of at least two multi-mote mdexes, the time series mcludmg the at least one multi-mote content index of the at least one federated mdex.

12. The method of Claim 1, wherein said searching at least one federated mdex further comprises:

searching at least one aggregation of content indexes, wherein the at least one aggregation of content indexes forms a part of the at least one federated mdex.

13. The method of Claim 12, wherem said searching at least one aggregation of content indexes, wherem the at least one aggregation of content indexes forms a part of the at least one federated index further comprises:

searchng a time series of at least two aggregations of content indexes, the time series mcluding the at least one aggregation of content indexes, wherem the at least one aggregation of content mdexes forms a part of the at least one federated mdex.

14. The method of Claim 12, wherem said searchng at least one aggregation of content indexes, wherem the at least one aggregation of content mdexes forms a part of the at least one federated mdex further comprises:

searchng at least one mote-addressed content index of the at least one aggregation of content indexes, wherem the at least one aggregation of content mdexes forms a part of the at least one federated mdex.

15. The method of Claim 12, wherem said searchng at least one aggregation of content indexes, wherein the at least one aggregation of content indexes forms a part of the at least one federated index further comprises:

searchng at least one multi-mote content index of the at least one aggregation of content mdexes, wherein the at least one aggregation of content indexes forms a part of the at least one federated mdex.

16. The method of Claim 1 , wherein said presenting an indication of motes appropriate to the mote-appropriate network task further comprises:

transmitting the indication of motes appropriate to the mote-appropriate network task to electrical circuitry configurable to utilize the indication of motes appropriate to the mote-appropriate network task

17. The method of Claim 16, wherem said transmitting the indication of motes appropriate to the mote-appropriate network task to electrical circuitry configurable to utilize the indication of motes appropriate to the mote-appropriate network task further comprises:

transmitting the indication of motes appropriate to the mote-appropriate network task to a processor configurable "by a computer program to utilize the indication of motes appropriate to the mote-appropriate network task.

18. The method of Claim 1 , wherem said searchng at least one aggregation of content mdexes, wherein the at least one aggregation of content mdexes forms a part of the at least one federated index further comprises:

presenting the indication of motes appropriate to the mote-appropriate network task though a graphical user interface.

19. A system comprising:

means for accepting input defining a mote-appropriate network task;

means for searchng at least one federated mdex responsive to said means for accepting input; and

means for presenting an indication of motes appropriate to the mote-appropriate network task.

20. The system of Claim 19, wherein said means for acceptmg input defining a mote-appropriate network task further comprises:

means for accepting a visual-task input.

loading at least one federated index to a computer system external to a mote-appropriate network;

accepting input defining a task of the mote-appropriate network; and

searchng the loaded at least one federated index in response to said input.

38. The method of Claim 37, wherein said loading at least one federated mdex to a computer system external to a mote- appropriate network further comprises:

loading the at least one federated mdex to at least one of a notebook computer system, a minicomputer system, a server computer system, or a mahframe computer system.

39. The method of Claim 37, wherein said searchng the loaded at least one federated index further comprises:

searchng the loaded at least one federated index via at least one of a notebook computer system, a minicomputer system, a server computer system, or a mahframe computer system.

40. A system comprising:

means for loadmg at least one federated index to a computer system external to a mote- appropriate network;

means for accepting input defining a task of the mote-appropriate network; and

means for searching the loaded at least one federated index responsive to said means for acceptmg input.

41. The system of Claim 40, wherein said means for loadmg at least one federated index to a computer system external to a mote-appropriate network further comprises:

means for loadmg the at least one federated indezx to at least one of a notebook computer system, a minicomputer system, a server computer system, or a mainframe computer system.

loading at least one mote-addressed content index of a federated index to a computer system external to a mote-appropriate network;

accepting mput defining a task of the mote-appropriate network; and

searchng the loaded at least one mote-addressed content index of the federated index in response to said mput.

44. The method of Claim 43, wherem said loading at least one mote-addressed content index of a federated mdex to a computer system external to a mote- appropriate network further comprises: -

loading the at least one mote-addressed content index of the federated index to at least one of a notebook computer system, a minicomputer system, server computer system, or a mainframe computer system.

45. The method of Claim 43, wherein said searchng the loaded at least one mote- addressed content dex of the federated index further comprises:

searchng the at least one mote-addressed content index of the federated index via at least one of a notebook computer system, a minicomputer system, a server computer system, or a mahframe computer system.

46. A system comprising:

means for loading at least one mote-addressed content index of a federated index to a computer system external to a mote-appropriate network;

means for accepting input defining a task of the mote-appropriate network; and

means for searching the loaded at least one mote-addressed content index of the federated index responsive to said means for accepting mput .

47. The system of Claim 46, wherein said means for loadmg at least one mote-addressed content index of a federated index to a computer system external to a mote- appropriate network further comprises:

means for loading the at least one mote-addressed content index of the federated dex to at least one of a notebook computer system, a minicomputer system, a server computer system, or a mainframe computer system.

48. The system of Claim 46, wherein said means for searchng the loaded at least one mote-addressed content index of the federated index further comprises:

load g at least one multi-mote content index of a federated index to a computer system external to a mote-appropriate network;

accepting input defining a task of the mote-appropriate network; and

searching the loaded at least one multi-mote content index of the federated index in response to said input.

50. The method of Claim 49, wherein said loading at least one multi-mote content index of a federated index to a computer system external to a mote-appropriate network further comprises:

loadmg the at least one multi-mote content dex of the federated mdex to at least one of a notebook computer system, a minicomputer system, a server computer system-, or a mainframe computer system.

51. The method of Claim 49, wherem said searchng the loaded at least one multi-πaote content index of the federated index further comprises:

searchng the loaded at least one multi-mote content index of the federated mdex via at least one of a notebook computer system, a minicomputer system, a server computer system, or a mainframe computer system.

means for loading at least one multi-mote content index of a federated index to a computer system external to a mote-appropriate network;

means for accepting input defining a task of the mote-appropriate network; and

means for searching the loaded at least one multi-mote content mdex of the federated mdex responsive to said means for accepting mput.

53. The system of Claim 52, wherem said means for loading at least one multi-mote content index of a federated mdex to a computer system external to a mote- appropriate network further comprises:

means for loadmg the at least one multi-mote content mdex of the federated index to at least one of a notebook computer system, a mimcomputer system, a server computer system, or a mainframe computer system.

loading at least one aggregation of content indexes wherein the at least one aggregation forms apart of at least one federated index to a computer system external to a mote- appropriate network;

accepting mput defining a task of the mote-appropriate network; and

searchng the loaded at least one aggregation of content indexes wherein the at least one aggregation forms a part of the at least one federated index in response to said input.

56. The method of Claim 55, wherein said loadmg at least one aggregation of content indexes wherein the at least one aggregation forms a part of at least one federated mdex to a computer system external to a mote-appropriate network further comprises:

loadmg the at least one aggregation of content mdexes wherem the at least one aggregation forms a part of the at least one federated mdex to at least one of a notebook computer system, a rrrhicomputer system, a server computer system, or a mahframe computer system.

57. The method of Claim 55, wherem said searchng the loaded at least one aggregation of content mdexes wherem the at least one aggregation forms a part of the at least one federated mdex further comprises:
