A stereoscopic display and record component, more specifically a dual polarizing light filter (100), and the methods of applying the component for stereoscopic image displaying and stereoscopic image recording, are disclosed. A dual polarizing light filter may be statically or dynamically controlled to deliver or accept polarizing light of different orientations at different micro regions on the filter at different times (109). The invention may be used to create a new type display device and a new type of recording method for both 2-D and 3-D images. The component may be added to displays as well as integrated into the display fabrication process.

La présente invention concerne un écran stéréoscopique et un composant d'enregistrement, plus spécifiquement un filtre optique à polarisation double, ainsi que des procédés permettant d'appliquer le composant à la visualisation et à l'enregistrement d'une image stéréoscopique. Le filtre optique à polarisation double décrit dans cette invention peut être commandé de manière statique ou de manière dynamique afin de diffuser ou de recevoir une lumière de polarisation de différentes orientations à différentes micro-zones sur le filtre, et ce, à différents moments. Cette invention peut également être utilisées pour créer un nouveau type d'écran et un nouveau type d'enregistrement à la fois pour les images en 2D et les images en 3D. Le composant décrit dans cette invention peut être ajouté à des écrans existants et il peut être intégré dans le processus de fabrication de l'écran.
