Es werden ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Erkennen des Aufpralls eines Fußgängers auf ein Fahrzeug beschrieben, wobei mittels einer Sensoreinrichtung (1) an der Stoßstange die durch einen Aufprall verursachten Drücke und/oder Verformungen gemessen und durch ein Mittel (2) zum Auswerten aus dem Ausgangssignal (a) der Sensoreinrichtung (1) ein erstes Kriterium (19) für die Entscheidung, ob ein Fußgängeraufprall vorliegt, gebildet wird, in Abhängigkeit dessen eine Auslöseentscheidung für ein Schutzsystem (3) getroffen wird. Die Auslöseentscheidung vom Eintreffen eines zweiten Kriteriums (17) abhängig gemacht wird, das durch ein von der Sensoreinrichtung (1) unterschiedliches physikalisches Prinzip ermittelt wird. Nur wenn beide Kiterien erfüllt sind, wird auf Auslösung des Schutzsystems (3) entschieden.

Disclosed are a method and a device for detecting the impact of a pedestrian on a vehicle. According to the invention, the pressures and/or deformations caused by an impact are measured using a sensor mechanism (1) located on the bumper, a first criterion (19) for deciding whether an impact of a pedestrian has occurred is formed from the output signal (a) of the sensor mechanism (1) with the aid of an evaluation means (2), and a decision as to whether a protective system (3) is to be triggered is made in accordance with said first criterion. The decision to trigger is made conditional upon the existence of a second criterion which is determined by a physical principle that is different from the sensor mechanism (1). The decision to trigger the protective system (3) is made only if both criteria are met.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif permettant d'identifier l'impact d'un piéton sur un véhicule. Selon ce procédé, les pressions et/ou les déformations induites par un impact sont mesurées au moyen d'un dispositif de détection (1) au niveau du pare-chocs. Un premier critère (19) permettant de déterminer l'existence d'un impact de piéton est établi par un moyen (2) servant à effectuer des évaluations sur la base du signal de sortie (a) du dispositif de détection (1). La décision de déclencher un système de protection (3) est prise en fonction de ce premier critère. La décision de déclencher le système de protection est rendue dépendante d'un second critère (17), déterminé selon un principe physique, différent du dispositif de détection (1). La décision de déclencher le système de protection n'est prise que si les deux critères sont satisfaits.
