Abstract

Method of building a direct smelting plant comprising a metal smelting vessel (11) and ancillary plant components such as the components of a hot air supply station (24), an offgas treatment station (32), a solids feed station (41), a hot metal desulphurization station (47) and hot metal and slag launders extending from the smelting vessel (11). The ring track (53) of a ringer crane (51) is installed in front of location at which vessel (11) is to be installed. Crane boom (54) is laid out along elongate stretch of the building site which becomes a corridor (60) between major ancillary components when plant is fully erected. Boom (54) is connected to crane carriage (52) and hoisted to provide high lift capacity over a ground area embracing proposed site of vessel (11) and ancillary components. Prefabricated components are then lifted by crane (51) into appropriate position for final installation. After installation is completed boom (54) is laid down along corridor (60) and crane (51) is dismantled and removed, leaving corridor (60) as an access laneway.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de construction d'une installation de fusion directe comprenant une cuve (11) de fusion directe et des constituants auxiliaires tels que les constituants d'une unité (24) d'alimentation en air chaud, une unité (32) de traitement des effluents gazeux, une unité (41) d'apport de matières solides, une unité (47) de désulfuration du métal chaud et des chenaux de coulée de métal chaud et de laitier s'étendant depuis la cuve de fusion (11). La piste circulaire (53) d'une grue mobile (51) est installée devant l'endroit où la cuve (11) doit être installée. La flèche (54) de la grue est étirée sur le site de construction sous forme d'un corridor (60) formé entre les constituants auxiliaires lorsque l'installation est entièrement montée. La flèche (54) est couplée au dispositif porteur (52) de la grue et levée pour assurer une capacité de levage élevée au-dessus d'une surface du sol englobant le site proposé pour la cuve (11) et les constituants auxiliaires. Des constituants préfabriqués sont ensuite levés par la grue (51) dans une position appropriée pour l'installation finale. Lorsque l'installation est terminée, la flèche (54) est descendue le long du corridor (60) et la grue (51) est démontée et enlevée, le corridor (60) faisant ensuite office de passage d'accès.
