(EN)A method of producing a plurality of tool inserts (20) from a body of polycrystalline ultra-hard material (10), in particular polycrystalline diamond and polycrystalline cubic boron nitride, having major surfaces (12, 14) on each of opposite sides thereof. The method includes the step of simultaneously producing a plurality of spaced holes (16, 26) in the body, each hole generally extending from one major surface to the opposite major surface. The holes are produced by a plurality of electrodes which may be arranged in a desired pattern. The body is severed between the holes to produce the plurality of tool inserts.
(FR)Procédé de fabrication d'une pluralité de plaquettes d'outil (20) à partir d'une masse de matériau ultra-dur polycristallin (10) et notamment de diamant polycristallin et de nitrure de bore cubique polycristallin, présentant des grandes faces (12, 14) sur chacune de ses faces opposées. Ce procédé consiste à réaliser simultanément dans ladite masse une pluralité de trous (16, 26) écartés les uns des autres et ménagés entre l'une des grandes faces et l'autre grande face opposée. Les trous sont réalisés par une pluralité d'électrodes disposées selon la configuration voulue. On peut rompre la masse entre les trous de manière à obtenir une pluralité de plaquettes d'outil.
