Abstract
(EN) A lightweight, structurally strong skin panel (10) having one or more transparent areas forming see-through windows (16), and a method of making same. A pre-impregnated resin tape (30) comprised of a plurality of fibers impressed into a resin is provided. A metal sheet (28) is provided. The pre-impregnated resin tape and the metal sheet are layered onto a molding tool (24) such that the metal sheet and the pre-impregnated resin tape are aligned one atop the other. The tool, metal sheet, and pre-impregnated resin tape are heated such that the resin flows and at least partially covers the metal sheet and the fibers. The resin and fibers are substantially transparent to form a see-through window portion in the skin panel. The transparent window skin panel eliminates the bulky and heavy frame structure traditionally employed on aircraft, and which has heretofore limited the size of aircraft windows.
(FR) L'invention concerne un panneau de revêtement léger et structurellement solide comportant une ou plusieurs régions transparentes à former des fenêtres transparentes et un procédé pour son production. Une bande préimpregnée de résine comportant plusieurs fibres enfoncés dans une résine est pourvue. Une feuille métallique est pourvue. La bande préimpregnée de résine et la feuille métallique sont posées en couche sur un outil de moulage de sorte que la feuille métallique et la bande préimpregnée de résine sont alignées l'une sur l'autre. L'outil, la feuille métallique et la bande préimpregnée de résine sont chauffées de sorte que la résine coule et recouvre au moins partiellement la feuille métallique et les fibres. La résine et les fibres sont sensiblement transparentes à former une section de fenêtre transparente dans le panneau de revêtement. Le panneau de revêtement à fenêtre transparente permet d'éviter la structure de cadre grande et lourde traditionnellement utilisée dans les avions, qui a jadis limité les dimensions des fenêtres dans les avions.
