Abstract

The present invention addresses at least four different aspects relating to catalyst structure, methods of making those catalysts and methods of using those catalysts for making alkenyl alkanoates. Separately or together in combination, the various aspects of the invention are directed at improving the production of alkenyl alkanoates and VA in particular, including reduction of by-products and improved production efficiency. A first aspect of the present invention pertains to a unique palladium/gold catalyst or pre-catalyst (optionally calcined) that includes rhodium or another metal. A second aspect pertains to a palladium/gold catalyst or pre-catalyst that is based on a layered support material where on layer of the support material is substantially free of catalytic components. A third aspect pertains to a palladium/gold catalyst or pre-catalyst on a zirconia containing support material. A fourth aspect pertains to a palladium/gold catalyst or pre-catalyst that is produced from substantially chloride free catalytic components.

L'invention concerne au moins quatre aspects différents associés à une structure de catalyseur, des méthodes de fabrication de ces catalyseurs et des méthodes d'utilisation de ces catalyseurs, pour fabriquer des alcényle alcanoates. Pris séparément ou combinés ensemble, les aspects variés de l'invention consistent à accroître la production d'alcényle alcanoates et de VA en particulier, notamment l'invention consiste à réduire des sous-produits et à obtenir une efficacité de production accrue. Un premier aspect de l'invention concerne un catalyseur palladium/or unique ou un pré-catalyseur (ayant éventuellement subi une calcination) comprenant du rhodium ou un autre métal. Un second aspect de l'invention concerne un catalyseur palladium/or ou un pré-catalyseur présentant un matériau de support multicouche en tant que base, une couche de ce matériau de support étant sensiblement exempte de constituants catalytiques. Un troisième aspect de l'invention concerne un catalyseur palladium/or ou un pré-catalyseur situé sur un matériau de support contenant de la zircone. Un quatrième aspect de l'invention concerne un catalyseur palladium/or ou un pré-catalyseur produit à partir de constituants catalytiques sensiblement exempts de chlorure.
