(EN)A mixed matrix membrane is provided which comprises a continuous phase organic polymer and small pore molecular sieves dispersed therein. The molecular sieves have a largest minor crystallographic free diameter of 3.6 Angstroms or less. When these molecular sieves are properly interspersed with a continuous phase polymer, the membrane will exhibit a mixed matrix membrane effect, i.e., a selectivity increase of at least 10 % relative to a neat membrane containing no molecular sieves. Finally, methods for making and using such mixed matrix membranes to separate gases from a mixture containing two or more gases are also disclosed.
(FR)L'invention concerne une membrane à matrice mixte comprenant un polymère organique en phase continue et des tamis moléculaires à pores fins dispersés dans celui-ci. Les tamis moléculaires présentent le diamètre libre cristallographique mineur le plus important d'au plus 3,6 Angströms. Quand ces tamis moléculaires sont intercalés de manière adéquate avec un polymère en phase continue, la membrane possède un effet de membrane à matrice mixte, soit une augmentation de la sélectivité d'au moins 10 % par rapport à une membrane nette ne comprenant pas de tamis moléculaire.
