(EN)The present invention is a method and catalyst for selectively producing single-walled carbon nanotubes. The catalyst comprise rhenium and a Group VIII transition metal, for example Co, which is preferably disposed on a support material to form a catalytic substrate. In the method, a carbon-containing gas is exposed to the catalytic substrate at suitable reaction conditions whereby a high percentage of the carbon nanotubes produced by the reaction is single-walled carbon nanotubes.
(FR)L'invention concerne une méthode et un catalyseur pour produire sélectivement des nanotubes de carbone à paroi unique. Ce catalyseur comprend du rhénium et un métal de transition du groupe VIII; par exemple Co, qui est de préférence appliqué sur un matériau de support pour former un substrat catalytique. Pour cette méthode, un gaz contenant du carbone est exposé au substrat catalytique dans des conditions réactionnelles appropriées, dans lesquelles un fort pourcentage des nanotubes de carbone produits par la réaction sont des nanotubes de carbone à paroi unique.
