(EN)A filamentary member (10) and a sleeve (40) made therewith are disclosed. The filamentary member has an inner core (12) formed of a material with a high tensile strength. The core is surrounded by an outer sheath (14) formed of an abrasion resistant material. The filamentary member is formed by co-extruding the core and the sheath together through a spinnerette having coaxial nozzles. When spun from a molten state, the core and sheath fuse at the interface between them to provide transverse shear continuity. The sleeve may be woven, knitted or braided using the filamentary members and has the characteristics of abrasion resistance and high tensile strength without the need for separate yarns having these characteristics.
(FR)La présente invention se rapporte à un élément filamentaire et à un manchon formé dudit élément. L'élément filamentaire comporte un noyau interne, constitué d'un matériau présentant une résistance à la traction élevée. Le noyau est entouré d'une gaine externe formée d'un matériau résistant à l'abrasion. L'on forme l'élément filamentaire en coextrudant le noyau et la gaine ensemble à travers une filière possédant des buses coaxiales. Lorsqu'ils sont filés à partir d'un état fondu, le noyau et la gaine fusionnent au niveau de leur interface afin de garantir une continuité de cisaillement transversal. Le manchon peut être tissé, tricoté ou tressé à l'aide des éléments filamentaires, et possède des caractéristiques de résistance à l'abrasion et une forte résistance à la traction, sans nécessiter de fils séparés dotés desdites caractéristiques.
