(EN)A method and its corresponding system for constructing a composite image using focus assessment information of image regions are disclosed. The method captures a primary image at a primary position with a lens having at least one deviation that exceeds a first tolerance from a target optical property (302); determines at least one out-of-focus region of the primary image (304); captures another image with the lens at another position (306); determines the focus of at least one region of the other image relative to a focus of the at least one out-of-focus region of the primary image (308); and then constructs a composite image in response to the at least one region of the other image having a sharper focus relative to the focus of the at least one out-of-focus region of the primary image (310).
