Abstract:
(EN) Abruptly shutting down an electrolyzer cell module during normal operation may, in some instances, be necessary when one or more process and operating parameters uncontrollably deviate into an unsafe range. However, abruptly shutting down an electrolyzer cell module may have residual effects that make it difficult to restart the electrolyzer cell module. In particular, in some instances a circulation pump is de-primed by the accumulation of gas bubbles within the circulation pump, which normally do not exist during normal operation since a fluid containing dissolved gas molecules is pressurized to ensure that the gas remains dissolved. In some embodiments of the invention there is provided a modified safety system that can controllably shutdown an electrolyzer cell module in an emergency situation so as to prevent instances of pump de-priming.
(FR) L'arrêt soudain d'un module de pile électrolytique pendant son fonctionnement normal peut être, dans certains cas, nécessaire lorsqu'un ou plusieurs paramètres de traitement et de fonctionnement passent de manière incontrôlée à un état dangereux. Toutefois, l'arrêt soudain d'un module de pile électrolytique peut avoir des effets résiduels rendant difficile la remise en route du module. Dans certains cas, notamment, une pompe à circulation est désamorcée par l'accumulation de bulles de gaz qui ne se produit généralement pas pendant le fonctionnement normal puisqu'un fluide contenant des molécules de gaz dissoutes est mis sous pression afin de s'assurer que le gaz reste dissous. Selon certains modes de mise en oeuvre de cette invention, un système de sécurité modifié peut arrêter de manière contrôlée un module de pile électrolytique dans une situation d'urgence de façon à prévenir les occurrences de désamorçage de pompe.
