Abstract
(EN) A method for operating an access point in a wireless local area network is provided. The access point (110A, 100B and 110C) includes a directional antenna for communicating with a plurality of remote stations (120a, 120b and 120c) and the directional antenna includes an omni angle and a plurality of directional angles. The method includes selecting one of the remote stations from a plurality of remote stations, transmitting a first probe signal via the omni angle directional antenna to the selected remote station and measuring a first probe response signal received via the omni angle from the selected remote station responding to the first signal. Than doing the same for a second probe signal, where the first probe response signal and the second probe response signal from the selected remote station are stored in an antenna database.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un procédé d'utilisation d'un point d'accès dans un réseau local sans fil (WLAN). Ce point d'accès comprend une antenne directionnelle permettant de communiquer avec une pluralité de stations éloignées, laquelle antenne directionnelle comprend un angle omnidirectionnel et une pluralité d'angles directionnels. Ce procédé consiste à sélectionner une des stations éloignées parmi la pluralité de stations éloignées ; à envoyer un premier signal de sonde par le biais de l'angle omnidirectionnel de l'antenne directionnelle à la station éloignée sélectionnée ; et à mesurer un premier signal de réponse de sonde reçu par le biais de l'angle omnidirectionnel de la station éloignée sélectionnée répondant au premier signal de sonde. Un second signal de sonde correspondant est envoyé par le biais de chacun des angles directionnels de l'antenne directionnelle à la station éloignée sélectionnée et un second signal de réponse de sonde reçu par le biais de chacun des angles directionnels de la station éloignée sélectionnée répondant au second signal de sonde correspondant est mesuré. Le premier signal de réponse de sonde mesuré et les seconds signaux de réponse de sonde mesurés correspondants reçus de la station éloignée sélectionnée sont stockés dans une base de données d'antenne.
