Abstract
(EN) The invention relates to a process for the manufacture of a shaped part of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) comprising melt processing, wherein a) the UHMWPE has a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of at least 1 * 106 g/mol, b) during the shaping the storage plateau modulus of the UHMWPE (G*) is kept at a value of at most 1.5 MPa, c) whereafter, before the cooling, the G* is raised to its final value. The invention further relates to a shaped part obtainable with the process and the use of the shaped part in a medical application.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé pour produire une pièce façonnée constituée d'un polyéthylène à poids moléculaire ultra élevé (UHMWPE), ledit procédé comprenant un traitement de la matière en fusion. Selon l'invention a) le UHMWPE présente un poids moléculaire moyen en poids (Mw) d'au moins 1 * 106 g/mol ; b) pendant le façonnage, le module élastique au plateau du UHMWPE (G*) est maintenu à une valeur d'au moins 1,5 MPa ; c) puis, avant le refroidissement, le G* est augmenté jusqu'à ce qu'il atteigne sa valeur finale. L'invention concerne également une pièce façonnée pouvant être obtenue selon ledit procédé ainsi que l'utilisation de cette dernière dans une application médicale.
