(EN)The performance and ease of management of wireless communications environments is improved by a mechanism that enables access points (Aps, 12) to perform automatic channel selection. A wireless network (10) can therefore include multiple APs, each of which will automatically choose a channel such that channel usage is optimized. Furthermore, APs can perform automatic power adjustment so that multiple APs can operate on the same channel while minimizing interference with each other. Wireless stations (16) are load balanced across APs so that user bandwidth is optimized. A movement detection scheme provides seamless roaming of stations between APs.
(FR)L'invention concerne un système améliorant les performances et facilitant la gestion d'environnements de transmission sans fil, qui permet à des points d'accès (AP, 12) d'opérer une sélection automatique de canal. Un réseau sans fil (10) peut ainsi comprendre de multiples AP, chacun de ceux-ci choisissant automatiquement un canal afin d'optimiser l'utilisation des canaux. De plus, l'AP peut régler automatiquement la puissance de façon à permettre à de multiples AP de fonctionner sur le même canal tout en réduisant au minimum le brouillage entre ceux-ci. La charge des stations (16) sans fil est équilibrée entre les AP afin d'optimiser la bande passante de l'utilisateur. Un système de détection de déplacement fournit aux stations un service d'itinérance sans coupure entre les AP.
