Abstract:
(EN) The present invention discloses self-foamable and cross-linkable Organoclay/Novolak nanocomposites, foams and process thereof. The nanocomposites and foams disclosed herein comprise a layered silicate component and a novolak resin component. Nanocomposites compositions may also further comprise a surfactant and a curing agent. The layered silicate is intercalated by reaction with an intermediate having two functional groups, one of the group reacting with the layered silicate, the other participating to the condensation reaction with phenolic compounds. Foams generated from Organoclay/Novolak nanocomposites disclosed herein show improved mechanical properties. Furthermore, the process of producing such foams is greatly simplified by the use of water as the foam blowing agent. Water may originate from the condensation reaction of monomers (a phenol and an aldehyde) or from the volatile content of a novolak polymer.
(FR) L'invention concerne des nanocomposites organo-argile-Novolak, des mousses de ceux-ci et des procédés connexes. Ces nanocomposites et ces mousses comprennent un composant silicate stratifié et un composant résine de type Novolak. Ces compositions de nanocomposites peuvent en outre contenir un tensioactif et un agent de traitement. Le silicate stratifié est intercalé par réaction avec un produit intermédiaire comprenant deux groupes fonctionnels, l'un de ces groupes réagissant avec le silicate stratifié, et l'autre contribuant à la réaction de condensation avec les composés phénoliques. Les mousses produites à partir de ces nanocomposites orano-argile/Novolak présentent des propriétés mécaniques améliorées. En outre le processus de production de ces mousses est grandement simplifié grâce à l'utilisation d'eau en tant qu'agent d'expansion. Cette eau peut provenir de la réaction de condensation de monomères (un phénol et un aldéhyde), ou des composants volatils contenus dans un polymère Novolak.
