Abstract
(EN) A process for making crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP-P) is disclosed. Crosslinker generation, followed by polymerization of NVP, gives a polymer containing up to 4 wt.% of residual NVP. An aqueous mixture of the polymer is then heated in the presence of a protic acid at pH < 4 to eliminate NVP. Finally, the PVP-P is neutralized with aqueous alkali metal hydroxide. The process generates a reduced volume of low-toxicity aqueous waste (< 20 L/kg PVP-P) and gives PVP-P that meets important product specifications.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation de polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP-P) réticulé. La génération d'un agent de réticulation suivie d'une polymérisation de N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) permet d'obtenir un polymère contenant jusqu'à 4 % en poids de NVP résiduel. On chauffe ensuite un mélange aqueux de polymère en présence d'un acide protique à un pH < 4 afin d'éliminer NVP. Le PVP-P est enfin neutralisé à l'aide d'un hydroxyde métallique alcalin aqueux. Ledit procédé permet de produire un volume réduit de déchets aqueux à faible toxicité (< 20 L/kg PVP-P) et un PVP-P répondant à des spécifications de produits importantes.
